Some of my Creatrix quilts got another outing at the Great New Zealand Quilt Show held for the first time this year in the South Island. What an exciting and varied show it was with a record number of visitors attending since its inception. Yay South Island. I was so excited to be awarded Best Art Quilt for Creatrix: Carpe Diem and thoroughly chuffed to received a Judges Choice award for Creatrix: Contemplation.

Cherie Gurney’s fantastic Tic Tac Toe quilt won Best of Show – the detail, printing and quilting was so inspiring and necessitated a closer look it was a fabulous quilt

Debby Williams won Best Traditional with her Joyful Tweets quilt a massive quilt hand pieced while on her international travels and assembled when she got home. A lovely use of colour and combination of applique too

There was an amazing display of Quilts from the 2024 Carrefour European Quilt Show. The theme was Ocean. The quality and diverse interpretations were amazing. We were so fortunate to be able to have an exhibition of this calibre here in NZ. Here are some that caught my eye.
